The Shuar Wildlife Camp is located in the heart of the Shuar Cultural Center.
Our Shuar community has a deep respect for the jungle and its preservation, which is why we have created this space so you can stay and enjoy the wonderful Amazon Rainforest, along with its exquisite flora and fauna. In addition, you will have the opportunity to get to know other nearby communities, immersing yourself in their culture while exploring their territories rich in biodiversity. You will be able to spot birds, monkeys, reptiles, mammals and arthropods, thus enriching your experience in the jungle.
In addition, you can find daily tours where you will have the opportunity to explore the unique flora and fauna of the Amazon from the city of Coca. DAY 1
10:30 AM – The beautiful city of El Coca will be our meeting point, and then we will start sailing for approximately 45 hours on the majestic Napo River until we reach our Shuar territory – Shuar Wildlife Camp. The Shuar culture is characterized by maintaining their spiritual strength through ancestral knowledge. That’s why when you arrive in our territory, we will welcome you in an unprecedented traditional way (the spear ritual, “Tsaant-tabaco,” is a fundamental part of Shuar spirituality). Afterwards, the vibration of your energy will be reflected on your face through the iconographies that the women will create for you. Similarly, the members of our community will allow you to understand the importance of spirituality and the relationship between human beings and nature.
12:30 PM – We will have our lunch. At 3:00 PM, we will sail for approximately 30 minutes along the Napo River. On this day, our journey to search for and appreciate the abundance of wildlife begins. During this trip, we will take advantage of all the wonders that this tropical and floodable forest ecosystem can offer us. After a great day of excursions, hikes, and trekking, we will arrive at our campsite for the night.
DAY 2
5:00 AM – Wake up with determination and renewed energy, as a delicious breakfast awaits you. At 6:00 AM, as we arrive at Taracoa Lake, we will have the opportunity to connect with the Amazon in its full splendor. First, we will walk along a steel scaffolding path for approximately 40 minutes. Here, we will enjoy unique flora and fauna. At the end of the path, we will embark on a rowboat to navigate the lush blackwater lake. This lake is home to caimans, piranhas, anacondas, and colorful birds that will delight us with their sounds. We will also take a jungle walk to observe primates of different species.
12:00 PM – We will have lunch in the jungle. At 1:00 PM, we will return to the city of Coca.

We will start our day early at 5:30 AM with a delicious breakfast before embarking on an exciting adventure. Our first destination will be the “Parrot Salt Lick,” where you can witness an impressive spectacle as you observe these colorful parrots gathering in large numbers. Additionally, we will have the opportunity to climb a 45-meter-high tower to enjoy incredible panoramic views of the jungle.
Next, we will head to the “Parakeet Salt Lick,” a fascinating place where you can admire species like parrots, scarlet macaws, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, and many more. This will be an unforgettable encounter with the diverse wildlife of the region. After a morning full of natural wonders, we will stop for a delicious lunch in the middle of the jungle. Then, we will begin our return journey. At 5:00 PM, as you venture into the jungle, the environment comes to life with the sounds of nature in the afternoon and at dusk. Each step brings you closer to a fascinating world of vibrant insects, mysterious rodents, and reptiles. The nocturnal jungle reveals hidden beauty, with creatures that only emerge when night falls. Imagine encountering bright fireflies, exotic beetles, and colorful frogs. Observe how rodents explore their surroundings for food, and marvel at the elegance of nocturnal reptiles as they glide through the vegetation. This night walk gives you the opportunity to witness wildlife in its natural habitat, in a unique and mysterious environment.
DAY 3

We will start our exciting adventure at 9:00 am from the Malecón del Coca, where a motorized boat awaits us, complying with all the necessary safety measures to take us on this magnificent journey.
After a short 10-minute navigation, we will visit Yasuní Land, a nature park where we can admire an impressive 36-meter tower. During this tour, we will have the opportunity to encounter centuries-old trees and appreciate their incredible flora. At 11:00 am, we will travel by canoe to a Kichwa community to learn about their way of life, customs, and traditions, and enjoy a typical lunch.
At 2:00 pm, after lunch, we will continue navigating downstream the Napo River until we reach the port of Pompeya. Here, a land vehicle will be waiting to take us to the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, where we will navigate around the Limoncocha lagoon. During this experience, we will have the opportunity to observe monkeys and a wide variety of bird species, such as the Hoatzin, Striated Heron, and Snail Kite.
As the evening approaches, we will witness a stunning Amazonian sunset and begin the caiman spotting activity. As this species is nocturnal, our guide will use a flashlight to detect and observe them.
At 7:30 pm, we will embark on our return to the city of Coca by land transportation, with an estimated arrival time of 9:00 pm.

05H00 AM: Coca city will be our meeting point where we will begin our journey. After embarking on the canoe, we will navigate for about an hour and 20 minutes along the Napo River to the spectacular blackwater flooded ecosystem in the town of Taracoa. Being located within the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve, we will have the opportunity to connect with the Amazon rainforest in its full splendor. First, we will walk along a steel scaffolding path for approximately 40 minutes, enjoying the unique flora and fauna. At the end of the path, we will board a paddle canoe to explore the lush blackwater lagoon. This lagoon is home to caimans, piranhas, anacondas, and colorful birds that will delight us with their songs. We will also take a hike through the jungle to observe different species of primates.
11:00 AM: We will navigate the Napo River for about 40 minutes to our next destination, the Kichua Cultural Center community.
12:00 PM: After disembarking from our canoe, we will receive a traditional welcome with drum rituals and ancestral chants. This warm reception is an essential part of getting familiar with the Kichua people. The welcoming ritual will immerse you intimately in the life and essence of the Kichua culture. In the center, we will share ancestral stories and legends, ancestral knowledge, and the medicinal use of sacred plants. You will also get to experience ancestral meals with tastings of beverages and gastronomy.
3:00 PM: After lunch, we will return to Coca city, where we will conclude our activities.

09:00 am: Transfer from your hotel to the starting point will be the pier of the boardwalk in the city of Coca, located on the banks of the Napo river, we will navigate in a motorized canoe with all the necessary security that will take us to know the three impressive rivers that surround the City and we will visit Yasuni Land, a nature park where you can take walks inside the jungle and climb to the top of the forest in the sighting tower that this Ecopark has, you will go up to 36 meters and you will be able to appreciate the jungle from the heights, if nature allows you to see birds and monkeys meet the wise giants of the jungle (Ceibo trees).
11:00 am: Transfer by canoe downstream in 20 minutes we will be visiting the Culture, here they will receive us with an achiote painting on our face, this means the welcome and typical lunch, and then we will participate in the Cultural activity and we will know the sacred medicine that is used by the cultures and the way of use is daily life And we return to El Coca and transfer to your hotel.
